Characters From Armstrong's 'Underworld' Surface at Comikaze

LOS ANGELES—Garnering rave reviews and generating brisk sales, Brad Armstrong's Underworldhas been a standout success for Wicked Pictures. To help promote this unique adult fantasy, the studio has come up with some forward-thinking social media and street team marketing efforts.

In the sales arena, things are continuing to go swimmingly, with Armstrong’s film attaining prominent positions in the bestseller charts on AdultDVDEmpire.com since its initial release.

On the promotional front, the Underworld contest “Flesh for Fantasy” has been a hit with the company’s social media audience. Each day fans tweet their original Underworld character ideas to Twitter.com/wickedpictures for a chance to see their concept brought to life by Armstrong and Underworld star Jessica Drake in Club magazine. Response to the contest has been so strong that the company has begun rewarding fans for their diligence by sending Underworld street teams to popular comic book conventions. Promotional models are hitting the pavement decked out as the month’s most interesting submissions. (The creators of these spotlight characters will receive complimentary Brad Armstrong DVDs and may still compete for the grand prize.)

This month’s selected characters, Acid Rain and Belle Star, made the scene recently at Stan Lee’s Comikaze. Billed as “Los Angeles’ first and only large-scale, multimedia pop culture convention” and held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the show saw the Wicked crew give away free DVDs and enjoy photo opportunities with actors like Andy MacKenzie (True BloodBones) and Richard Anderson of Six Million Dollar Man fame

Underworld will be featured at the 2014 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) in Las Vegas. An exclusive screening of the blockbuster is being held Thursday, January 16 at 3:30 p.m. inside Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Following the screening, Armstrong, drake, co-star Asa Akira and more will hold a Q&A for those in attendance.

Moving beyond the first month of 2014, the movie’s “Flesh For Fantasy” promotions will continue with Club magazine publishing a tantalizing look at Jessica Drake styled as the winning fan-based character.
